Clyda

Privacy Policy

How Clyda collects, uses, and protects your information

Effective date: October 10, 2025

1) Introduction and scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Clyda ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Clyda browser extension and website ("Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.

2) Information we collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to operate Clyda:

  • Account information: Email address and optional profile details (name, avatar) when you sign in.

  • Authentication information: Session tokens used to authenticate your requests.

  • Product data: Deck identifiers, dictionary entry identifiers, and related metadata when you add a flashcard or start a study session.

  • Extension settings (local): Scan hotkey, on/off toggle, panel size, and default deck selection are stored in your browser's local storage.

We do not collect health information, financial information, personal communications, or browsing history.

3) How we use information

  • Provide and improve the Services (sign-in, sync decks, add flashcards, study sessions).
  • Operate, maintain, and secure our infrastructure; detect abuse or fraud.

We do not sell your personal information.

4) Local processing of page content

The extension reads page text locally to display dictionary definitions and pitch accent. Page content is not sent to our servers for lookups. When you add a flashcard, we send only the dictionary entry identifier and your chosen deck to our API.

5) Sharing with service providers

We use trusted service providers to operate Clyda, such as Supabase (authentication and data storage). These providers act as processors and may process personal data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.

6) Data retention

  • Extension settings remain in your local browser storage until you remove the extension or clear data.
  • Account and product data are retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services.

7) Your choices and rights

You may access, update, or delete your data via account features or by contacting us. You can disable or remove the extension at any time and clear the extension's local data in your browser.

8) Data security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9) International transfers

If we transfer information internationally, we do so under appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable laws.

10) Children’s privacy

Clyda is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Effective date" on this page.
